Table emptied and full again all in the same day

I spent this morning cleaning, pricing and emptying my dining table, all packed up ready for taking to the centres only for it to full again by afternoon tea. Helps me understand the term 'Postal', like the mail, vintage just keeps on coming.

I luv old crumb trays, a lot of times you just find a tray by itself so its great when you find the brush as well.

This old Christmas plate while not worth a lot is probably my favourite.
 I love the details.

Full Table Golden Age of Hollywood

My dining table this week has some old time Hollywood glamour.

Two of my all time favourites, Ginger Rogers and Katharine Hepburn.

But my favourite on my dining table this week must be this Antique Australian childs pale.

It is in amazing condition for its age,
I just hope its condition is not because its original owner was not allowed to play with it, by a uptight parent.

Just in....Large Pigeon Hole Cupboards, Amazing Tin Bath and more

Just in two large pigeon hole cupboards.
Perfect for a shoe collection, office or home library.

Not sure if the doors will stay on or not as I love seeing the gorgeous shelves. It seems a shame to close the doors on them. Although the doors are lovely....what would you do?
Here is the second one as it was coming off the back of the ute.

Below is something you don't see everyday.

An old tin Bath. Surprisingly light...after we tipped out the dirt that was in it. I think it would make an amazing garden water feature. I'll just give it a bit of a tidy up, bang out a few of the dints and then I'll have to be careful not to fall in love with it...you know how I do love odd things.

The photos don't really do it justice. It is one of those things you have to feel and experience.

We also got this classic garden bench. It will be heading to the nursery this afternoon.

Will you forgive me for having a Favourite ?

As it is with our children, when it comes to admitting to having favourite customers it just is not on, is it? Well I'm sorry I hope you will forgive me but today I am admitting to having a bit of a favourite...customer that is.
Here she is, Mrs Bennett. I first met Mrs Bennett about 14 years ago when I had my shop, Frog's Hollow Antiques and Curios, on Hawthorne Road...I loved my shop, and sometimes I do miss it....but I digress. Mrs Bennett, a great purposeful walker, used to often call in for a chat and a browse when she was returning from her days errands. Those of you who know me know...I am good at chatting and I loved sharing in the stories Mrs Bennett has to share of her family and life. She often purchased gifts for loved family members. But one day she purchased something for herself. It is the lovely dressing table, she is pictured with above, and further down.

At the time of purchasing the dressing table Mrs Bennett was in her late 70's and her family wondered why at this stage of her life she needed it. But she loved it and said she had always wanted one and she didn't care that she may not get to enjoy it as long as she would like. She would love it every day and she knew it would bring her joy. Well if you do the math you can see Mrs Bennett has had many years of enjoyment of her dressing table.

I called in on her the other day when I spied her in her garden. She grows beautiful roses and has a lovely green house. She does all the up keep herself. She is just such a lovely person, I can't begin to tell you.

Her husband's photo is on the left, you can just make it out. He passed away 43 years ago...
People always ask how I can part with the treasures we find. Well I love that I get to meet and be a part of the lives of people like Mrs Bennett and I like that so many customers buy things from me again and again. One lovely ebayer said to me the other day, except for the beds and white goods just about every bit of furniture in her house has come through us. Too funny but also very special.
