The Apprentice

Frankie recently started his electrical apprenticeship. I am very excited with the prospect of having an electrician in the family. Although I do try to block out the fact that he is mucking around with electricity all day. Even though he is grown, it still seems instinctual as a mother to worry about such things.

Here's Frankie in his tradie gear in front of "blacky", his car, which was once my car. He starts very early and I get up with him, before he heads off in the dark, to help prepare his lunch and have a coffee together. I was thinking recently how my life has gone full circle with Frankie. I used to get up with him before dark when he was a little fellow, although back then it was just me that found the early start hard. Don't tell him but I actually really enjoy it. I feel very aware that it won't be long before these times too will be a memory. Don't you wish sometimes that you could do parts of your life all over again so you could have a chance to enjoy them once more ?

  1. I often wish I could do parts of my life again, though only the parts that relate to my children. I'd love to see them as babies again. I made such huge promises to each of them when they were newborns in hospital, but the reality is you sometimes forget how precious the moments are with them.

It's hard to believe that one day my boys will be as big and grown up as Frankie. He looks like he loves you!

  4. Yes, I'd love to spend some time with my grandparents again as well as Molly as a pup. The time is gone too quickly.
I eish Frankie well in his apprenticeship, though don't hold your breath getting those jobs done around the house!
The face is healing ok, thanks for asking, a bit scabby and still a bit bruised, but hopefully not too much of a scar. Deary mee, I'm a klutz! Lucky I'm not an electrician!!

  5. That barefoot sparky in training brings a tear to my eye. I wish I could hop in the Delorean and go back in time too. You're such a good mum making him his lunch and having a coffee together. xx

  6. Some of my favorite memories are of sitting feeding my bub's in the middle of the night. Remembering those times brings a contented smile to my face.
I'm sure you are loving rising early with your son!

  8. What a handsome young man he is, Katherine. I'm sure you've already got a steady stream of young admirers traipsing through your house to get to him. I'd be putting some of those honker huge West German vases in their way!
Never look back, only forward. That's where the new memories will be created.

  9. I have four grown up sons and have enjoyed so many special moments with each of them. I think part of the pleasure is having that history together and being privileged to have been there from the very start with each one of them. I think I'd only revisit bits as long as I didn't know some of the events to follow..even if they did turn out ok in the end.

  14. You actually make it appear really easy along with your presentation however I to find this matter to be actually something which
I feel I'd never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and extremely vast for me. I'm
having a look ahead for your next put up, I will attempt
to get the dangle of it!
