Oranges and Lemons Omnibus and don't forget to check out the skips

I took these Giant clam shells to the garden centre on Saturday, I thought they looked great with lemons and oranges in them. The one with the lemons in them sold yesterday so in future all I will buy is two bags of lemons for display rather than a bag each of lemons and oranges for variety.

Retro metal phone table and patio setting that came from the same groovy, retro, house as a bar I have pictures of below.

I love old typewriters...
and old books.

On to the WAC.....
Super groovy bar with lots of fab features,

like the tea towel holder and cupboards,
like this fab pull out drinks tray.

Recliner mid century chairs, pictured is one of three pairs.
The windows at the WAC suited last weeks weather....full of umbrellas. So clever but hard to photograph.

We went to a house last week that already had two full skips in the driveway. Always remember to ask the people if you can look at what they have thrown away just incase you can use what they have thrown away.
This was the first piece that caught my eye, fortunately this old art deco gal had no chips from being thrown away.
This beswick horse saldy was not so lucky and had to be put down.
Also remember (but for some you would have to be a hard core vintage lover like me to attempt ha) to check the bins when you see full skips, as folks often fill them up at the same time when clearing an old house.
This is how I found this bin when I opened the lid.
The treasure trove went all the way through (yes this meant I had my head in a bin...not for the faint hearted) it was like they moved the black bins into the lounge room and emptied the china cabinets straight into them.
Here is just some of the items I salvaged.
While a lot was broken, from just being thrown in, it was amazing what survived intact
Of course you cannot break old collectable tea towels
Hope you all have a good week.

  1. I just can't believe what treasures people throw away! How tragic. It least you got to save some of it and it will find a nice new home :)

  2. That reminds me of the time some in-laws of mine threw out vintage books (ie 100 year old children's books with colour plates) and other items of an elderly relative straight into the bin.
Some of the garbage bags they couldn't fit into the bin came to us to be put in our bin. And yep, I went through it and made sure they were donated. In hindsight I wish I had kept some of the books (especially the ones with sentimental value) but at least they were given a second chance rather than being just landfill!
Good on you for dumpster diving! More people should do it. xx

  3. I just cant believe what people throw away, maybe out of pure innocence of not knowing value, or just plain laziness...thank goodness you managed to salvage some of this lot....I am very sad I live down here in SA and no where near your great outlet for vintage stuff...I always see stuff on here and WANT IT!

"OMG!" What are people throwing out!!! Look at those brand new tea towels for OMG's sake.

Is that a kookaburra plate in there? OMG.

  9. It makes me sad to think how many bins are filled with treasures that aren't rescued by heroes like you. I love the clam shell, how much?

  10. How sad that this is what becomes of someone's life once they pass away or move out. Are people just too lazy to find out if someone may want this kind of stuff or is it ignorance? So sad.

  20. So, what is it that produces Nike Air Max stand out from each of one other sports activities trainers concerning Nike Air Max market.
Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger There's something intriguing about a robotic voice egging you on. I don't know
if the vocals sampled are from some old song because
it has got a really 80s vibe to it.
