So, so Lucky!! Close shave for the Cottage Garden Centre

What can we say? Watching what has happened to our city and our state is just so heart breaking. We just feel so incredibly lucky that due to the waters not going as high as estimated the Cottage Garden Nursery has been spared. The river peak was 4.6 m and not the predicited 5.5 m that would have seen the Nursery go under. Kristen managed to weave his way into the area this morning and took some footage of the waters next to the Nursery below. The waters had already started to recede as they came up to the garden bed you can see in front of the Nursery.
Again we feel just so lucky and relieved. But our neighbouring suburbs are in places partly under water and there is going to be a massive effort needed to rebuild our state.
This photo is of part of Norman Park, the corner of Stanley St East and Bennets Road, not far from the Nursery. For those of you who know the Blog and shop LilyG, that is the LilyG shop in the corner of the picture. It looks like the waters came very close to them too.
Our hearts go out to all of those affected but as Anna Bligh our premier says, we are Queenslanders and although this is breaking our hearts it will not break our spirit!

  2. I am glad to hear it didn't go as high as predicted. Looking at the footage of Brisbane city is heartbreaking but there is a lot of positivity about cleaning up and helping out, thats great to see.

  3. I'm happy that you are Lily G were spared as I know both of you. My brother's home went under at Jindalee. My heart is still heavy today. It's all so surreal isn't it? I still can't believe it. Stay dry my sweet! x

  16. Whew! What a huge relief for you Katherine.
I just can't believe what I'm seeing on TV. It's as if it's happening oversea rather than an hour up the road.

  19. Hey Katherine. Boy am I glad to hear everything is dry, and you're all okay. So, so close for you. You must be tired yet relieved. e are all high and dry but Ambiwerra is a lake and we now have a lake at the local park reaching all the way to Rocklea. Thankfully we have power back on! I think Anna Bligh has done a fabulous job keeping everyone well informed. She is a brilliant public speaker, and very reassuring. Again pleased all is okay. x

  21. I'm so happy to hear it didn't get you. I'm in Adelaide and I haven't been able to tear my eyes away from the television for the last three days. It's like watching a movie and I can't begin to imagine what it's like there. But the Queenslanders have made my Aussie heart swell with pride at how they have all banded together to help and support each other. That goes for all the other Aussies and volunteers too.
All the best to you and yours. And don't forget the Aeroguard!!

And after this article "So, so Lucky!! Close shave for the Cottage Garden Centre".
I was actually excited enough to drop a thought :-P I
do have 2 questions for you if you don't mind. Is it simply me or does it give the impression like some of the comments come across as if they are written by brain dead people? :-P And, if you are posting at other places, I'd like to keep up with everything fresh you have
