Friday favourite~ Stools

Over the years I have noticed that many people who love vintage have a thing for a certain category of furniture. For example, I had a girlfriend who had a thing for tables so bad that she even had them stored under other peoples houses. I realize, I have a thing for stools. Not for matching stools mind, just for odd stools that take my fancy. I have some in my kitchen around the island and my kids and their friends love them because 2 of them are designed to bend and they can rock. But they are such handy things and they are so cute!! What do you have a thing for??

Retro Stools

It has been a slow week for finding things. The cause? Kristen no good, lost his touch, the dust storm, or school holidays, who knows. Probably the first thought but then Kristen did go to an estate this morning and got a bit of stuff (though I never got to see a lot of it as he took a load to the auctions and then in his second trip sold a 60's Teak Vuer setting to a local dealer on the way home). I hope the stuff was not pieces I might want to have kept. Because as you can see from the pics of the retro bar stools, that came from the same house, the folks had good taste.

Amazing dusty sky in Brisbane Town at noon

People stand in the street in front of my house to watch the fireworks of riverfire, because you get such a great view of the Story Bridge and the city behind. Not today though, as you can see, the first picture shows what you can see at the moment. The second picture is from my back verandah. You should be able to cleary see the gateway and the new bridge being built.

Friday favourite ~ River Fire

This weekend is River Fire to celebrate the river. We live in a street with a view of the beautiful Story Bridge and the city. It is amazing how many people start from early in the morning getting their positions ready on the footpath so as to capture the best view of the fireworks.

3 old Shabby Romantic Tapestries

These are going up on ebay tonight for auction. They are really very beautiful and would look wonderful in any romantic, shabby chic or French style decor.

I thought they might be meant to be about a lucky young gentleman of Lake Cumo. That is not George Clooney.

Oh NO Kristen has found another estate

I am just getting on top of the items from the house of shells when Kristen has just got back with another load of stuff from an old Queenslander in Kedron (including more shells !) Though I must say as we unpacked the bric a brac I am glad he did.(though I hope he did not miss anything with his better half not there haha).

As he walked in the first thing he saw was Miss teddy sitting in her very own miniature Genoa chair. Apparently the teddy had belonged to the daughter of the old 99 year old lady who has just lately passed on. The teenage daughter died in the early 1960's and ever since then the teddy had sat in the chair next to the old ladies arm chair in the lounge and they kept each other company at night. The girls bedroom had also been kept just as it was the day she died. Very sad. I might have cried had I been there hearing that story while looking at teddy in her chair.

Anyway I have to get back to sorting all these things out as except for the kitchen and the kids bedrooms, I have stuff in everyroom in the house that must be packed away, cleaned for the garden centre or the wac, or listed on ebay or sent to local auction. I think I might go crazy with it all. I am seeing shells and stuff everywhere I look.

Ps I will try and list some pictures of the fantastic furniture Kristen got from the old home.

Friday favourite ~ Odd Art

I love to put odd things on my walls that I love. We are lucky in that we have high ceilings and lots of little corners for odd things to find a spot in our home. It is always interesting the reactions from people ~ I guess it is true beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I like it so who cares!
